Phinney Employee helps Bring Peace Light to Standish
“My wife needs me to build a contraption to transport an open flame in our family vehicle without everyone catching on fire.” That’s how Phinney Lumber kitchen designer Brian Nielsen began our afternoon check-in. “She is picking up the Peace Light tomorrow.”
If you haven’t already heard of it, the Peace Light from Bethlehem is a continuously-burning flame originating from the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem, Israel. It is meant to promote peace, harmony and unity among the people of the world regardless of race, ethnicity or religion. For several decades the International Scouting movement - both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts - have actively promoted global peace and harmony through the distribution of the Peace Light.
The peace light arrived in the United States (via airplane) today and will be coming to the Standish Congregational Church for a special ceremony at 5PM tomorrow, December 7, thanks in part to Standish Scout troop 874.
